Permit Requirements


A permit is required for any owner or authorized agent (contractor) who intends to construct, enlarge, alter, repair, renovate, move, demolish or change the occupancy of a building or structure, or to erect, install, enlarge, alter, repair, remove, convert or replace any electrical, gas, mechanical or plumbing system.

Accessory structures

Accessory buildings or structures that do not exceed 200 square feet and fences less than 7 feet in height are exempt from requiring a permit but shall be required to meet all Effingham county ordinances regarding accessory structures including, but not limited to, property setback requirements.
