The Humane Enforcement Division

On November 30, 2009, the Effingham County Sheriff's Office assumed operations of the county's Animal Control Unit.

Since that time, we have renamed "Animal Control" to the "Effingham County Sheriff's Office, Humane Enforcement Division." This change to a new name instills a sense of new commitment to the citizens of Effingham County. See our brochure (PDF) for additional information.

Trapping

Humane live traps are only available for loan from the Effingham County Sheriff's Office to businesses, the elderly and the handicap at no charge. The Effingham County Animal Shelter offers humane live traps to the general public.
